Important Information
Understand the scope and limitations of the information and services described on this website.
Accounting, taxation, business advisory, audit, legal services and licensed financial advice are different professional services with different responsibilities and regulatory requirements.
Last updated: 18 August 2026Nothing on this page is personal financial, tax or legal advice — speak with a licensed adviser about whether an SMSF suits your circumstances.
1. General information only
Information on this website is provided for general informational purposes. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation, needs, legal position, tax circumstances or the circumstances of any particular organisation.
Website information should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional advice based on complete and current information about your circumstances.
2. No personal financial advice
Unless expressly stated in a separate written engagement and provided by a person appropriately authorised under Australian financial-services law, information provided by Daintree Consulting does not constitute personal financial product advice.
Nothing on this website is a recommendation to acquire, dispose of, hold, vary or replace a financial product, establish an SMSF, transfer superannuation benefits or adopt a particular investment strategy.
Before making a decision requiring personal financial advice, you should obtain advice from an appropriately licensed financial adviser who has considered your objectives, financial situation and needs.
3. SMSF suitability and establishment
An SMSF is not suitable for everyone. Establishing and operating an SMSF can involve significant legal, financial, investment, administrative and trustee responsibilities.
Decisions concerning whether to establish or retain an SMSF, transfer superannuation benefits, select investments, arrange insurance or develop an investment strategy may require advice from appropriately licensed or qualified professionals.
Daintree’s SMSF accounting services may include agreed accounting, record-processing, financial-statement, tax-return and audit-file coordination activities. Those services do not, by themselves, determine whether an SMSF is suitable for you.
4. Trustee responsibilities
SMSF trustees remain responsible for managing their fund and complying with applicable superannuation, taxation and trust-law requirements. Engaging an accountant, administrator, auditor or adviser does not transfer the trustee’s legal responsibilities.
Trustee responsibilities may include:
- Acting in accordance with the fund’s trust deed
- Maintaining the fund for the sole purpose of providing retirement benefits
- Preparing and implementing an appropriate investment strategy
- Considering insurance for fund members where required
- Maintaining records and arranging annual reporting and audit requirements
- Ensuring investments and transactions comply with applicable law
- Meeting lodgement, payment and reporting deadlines
5. Accounting and taxation services
Accounting and taxation services are provided only under an agreed written engagement. The engagement will identify the scope of work, responsibilities, limitations and fees.
The accuracy and completeness of any accounting, taxation or reporting work depends on receiving accurate, complete and timely information. Clients and trustees remain responsible for reviewing information and promptly notifying Daintree of errors, omissions or relevant changes.
Taxation outcomes may be affected by changes in law, Australian Taxation Office interpretations, judicial decisions and the particular facts of a matter. No taxation outcome is guaranteed.
6. Business and CFO advisory
Business advisory, forecasting, budgeting, scenario modelling and outsourced CFO services involve estimates, assumptions and professional judgement.
Forecasts and projections are not guarantees of future performance. Actual outcomes may differ because of market conditions, business decisions, inaccurate assumptions, third-party actions and events outside Daintree’s control.
7. Audit and assurance
Audit and assurance activities are subject to the exact scope of an agreed engagement, applicable professional standards and independence requirements.
References to audit support or audit-file coordination do not mean that Daintree is acting as the independent auditor unless this is expressly confirmed in a separate written engagement and the work is performed by an appropriately qualified and registered person.
8. Legal advice
Daintree Consulting does not provide legal advice through this website. Information about trusts, companies, contracts, superannuation law, trustee obligations or regulatory requirements is general information only.
You should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified legal practitioner where a decision involves legal rights, obligations, documents, disputes or interpretation of legislation.
9. Third-party professionals
Daintree may suggest that you consult a financial adviser, lawyer, auditor, finance provider or other specialist. Any third-party engagement is separate from your engagement with Daintree.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, Daintree is not responsible for advice, services, products, representations or decisions provided by third parties.
10. No guarantee of outcomes
Daintree does not guarantee any financial, taxation, regulatory, audit, investment, funding, commercial or business outcome. Results depend on your circumstances, information supplied, applicable law, third-party decisions and factors outside Daintree’s control.
11. Formal engagements prevail
If you become a client, the written engagement terms applicable to the service will prevail over general website information to the extent of any inconsistency.
Booking a call, making an enquiry or receiving preliminary information does not create a professional adviser-client relationship.
